@Paul: I'm not sure which recording you're referring to, nor do I quite understand what kind of filtering you did, but it doesn't surprise me that you found some strange sounds in there. There was one recording I collected that, when played back at a certain time scale, sounded like a large flock of screeching birds. After carefully analyzing the recording, I concluded that it was actually the result of heavy machinery near the recording site. See my posting <a href='/projects/small-sounds/crustal-sounds-from-turkmenistan' rel="nofollow">"Trucks in Turkmenistan: Forensic Seismology Brings Sound Art Down to Earth"</a>.

We did a csi study of one of your sounds from inside the earth and found the underline sounds very disturbing. We lower the bass and put the midrange on high. we unlayered the sound into 4 places and slowed the recording. What we heard shocked us-it was the sound of billions of people screaming! You can do it for your self it will shock you m. bullitt.thank you for your research.
