Every Tuesday evening, from 7pm to 9pm sharp, a brass band practices next door. On warm evenings they play outdoors in their backyard, filling the neighborhood with the sound of trumpets, saxophones, one trombone, one tuba, and a snare drum. Passers-by often pause to listen at this unexpected musical gift. Some join in, singing or clapping along as they stroll past. Occasionally an exasperated neighbor can be heard to lean out a window, yelling Shuddup!. Now and then a police cruiser will arrive to investigate the cause of the cacophony. It pauses for a minute or two, then rolls on.
Sometimes, even the neighborhood dogs join in.
