Right here, right now, the solid Earth is moving under your feet. Earthquakes, storms, and ocean surf on a distant shore: each contributes a note to the restless chorus of vibrations that echoes across the planet’s vast interior.

This CD includes three 20-minute recordings of these slow natural vibrations, captured by a global network of digital seismographs and transposed into high-quality stereo. The disc is accompanied by a 16-page full-color illustrated explanatory booklet (not available separately).

It would be interesting to hear the sounds of the Indonesia tsunami quake, the Haitian quake, and the Chilean quake. As well as a random sampling. Folks who are worried that these major geophysical events are occurring more frequently than in the past, might be able to hear in a random sample that it is just old Earth doing its tectonic business as usual.
