ProTools: Import Audio Error
While trying to import an AIFF file, ProTools handed me this message:
Could not complete the Import Audio Command because Assertion in “FFAudioProcessRequantize.cpp”, line 150
Fortunately, I happened to know in advance that this particular AIFF file was corrupt. (That’s what I get for rolling my own sound files.) The meaning of the message is thus fairly clear. Translation:
That file is corrupt and I refuse to deal with it. Have a nice day.
I recorded tracks in Cubase 5 in AIFF format. When I tried to import these AIFF Files into Pro Tools 7.3 HD they became permanently corrupted and now won’t even open in cubase. I tried this once before with copied files and decided to try it on the original files resulting in a lost project. I then discovered that if I create a Pro Tools project in SD II and convert the cubase-generated AIFF files to SDII it worked. unfortunately, I have to call my client and tell him his project is gone. I wish I’d tried the SDII experiment first !!!
Dennis: Ouch! That must have been a painful experience.
I think the lesson for all of us is: Make a backup before opening any file with ProTools.
i dont under stand i have vista 64bt can u please brake it down for me thanks
@jay: I wish I could help, but I’ve only used Pro Tools on a Mac. And I’ve never used Vista. Sorry.
Hi. I had the same error dealing with Cubase LE (I don’t remember the version as i wasn’t working in my own computer) and Pro Tools LE 6.7, in Mac. I imported to a Pro Tools project some AIFF files that had been recorded in Cubase and they became corrupted. Also the files were larger than before (from 596 to 597.5 MB). They wouldn’t open with any software.
I ended up opening them with a text editor in my laptop (PC). Jujuedit works great with large files (http://www.jujusoft.com/software/edit/).
The header for the AIFF files was what was corrupted.
I copied another “healthy” AIFF that I had around and repeated the corruption process, so I had both versions of the file, openable and unopeneable. I compared both headers and corrected the issue via text. Then I opened one of the corrupted files (of wich I didn’t have an uncorrupted version) and corrected the header.
Its in the very beginning of the file and looks like this:
Corrupted:
FORM$xÂJAIFFCOMM
……..+…@.»
……MARK…”..
INST….<...ÿ
…………SSND
Corrected:
FORM..ÁpAIFFCOMM
……..+…@.»
……MARK…"..
…………….
…………….
INST….<.....
…………SSND
Worked perfect for me. I recovered a lost project! Hope it helps.
@JM: Excellent! Thanks for the tip.
